Born and raised in the Latin American country of Panama, Melanie began her dance training at the young age of 2, and studied Panamanian Folk, Tap, Ballet, Funk, Jazz, Modern and Theater dance. In 1985, at the age of 5, Melanie auditioned for the National Folkloric Ballet of Panama, became a part of the prestigious company, and traveled throughout Latin America and the United States to perform not only for the public, but for numerous diplomatic functions and high profiled charity galas.

In 1997, at the age of 18, Melanie decided to pursue another passion, and set forth to attend the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY to study Culinary Arts. Upon completion in 1999, she moved to Orlando, Florida and began her culinary career at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin. She later moved to the small island of Anguila located in the British West Indies and was associated with the Cap Juluca resort, and eventually made her way to Phoenix, AZ, where she had the privilege of working at Mary Elaine's at the Phoenician under world-renowned Chef Brad Thompson. In 2003, Melanie became a Private Chef and is currently devoted to that, as well as balancing her passion for dance along with it. She is now teaching ZUMBA, a fusion of Latin and international music, exotic dance rhythms and fitness. Zumba has rapidly become the next fitness sensation. It is a one -of- a- kind combination of dance and exercise, designed to take the "work" out of "working out" and put the "FUN" back into fitness. It is a class for everyone and will get you on the path of feeling great and looking even better! With Zumba...ditch the workout and join the party!
