CLASSES TAUGHT: Jazz
WITH PPAC FOR: 2 years
My name is Casey Jones and I look forward to teaching jazz at Plumb Performing Arts Center every Saturday. I began dancing at age 3, appeared on “Star Search” at age 11, and started teaching at age 15. As part of the University of Arizona Dance Ensemble, I had the honor of traveling to Amsterdam and performing in front of the Queen.
Although I majored in Physiological Sciences, I put that degree on the back burner and moved to New York to pursue my dream of dancing professionally. Among the accomplishments that I am most proud of are being Velma in “West Side Story” and being a featured dancer in the National Tour of “My Fair Lady” (where I met my husband). I did numerous industrials and fitness videos that allowed me to travel to Japan and Mexico. I was the dance captain on several cruise ships for Royal Caribbean and Celebrity that allowed me to tour the Caribbean, Mediterranean, Panama Canal, and Canada. I have loved bringing smiles to peoples’ faces through the art of dance and entertainment.
I am now studying to combine my artistic ability and scientific knowledge to literally create and polish those smiles through Dentistry at the Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health in Mesa. Although the “choreography” of my life has led me away from dancing professionally, I cannot imagine my life without dance, and am honored to have the opportunity to pass on my love for dance to these young children. So for all my students, remember . . . “Feet apart, toes forward” and most importantly . . . don’t forget to brush!
